Financial freedom isn’t just about the numbers in a bank account; it’s about the power to make choices. Recently, the Influx Community Cares Foundation teamed up with the phenomenal women of Sigma Gamma Rho Sorority, Inc. (Eta Mu Chapter) at East Carolina University for an evening dedicated to breaking glass ceilings and building solid foundations.
The event, aptly titled "Girls Just Wanna Have Funds," wasn’t your typical dry finance seminar. It was a high-energy, real-talk masterclass on how to navigate the complexities of money in the modern world.
Meeting the Trailblazers
We were honored to host a powerhouse panel of local leaders who brought diverse perspectives from the banking, non-profit, and real estate sectors.
Our Distinguished Speakers:
Eva Husband | AVP and Brand Manager, First Bank of Greenville

Kimberly Riddick | Boys & Girls Club

Rebecca Bunn | Owner and Broker, Influx Realty Co.

Key Takeaways from the Night
The atmosphere at ECU was electric as the ladies of Eta Mu engaged in deep-dive discussions. Here are the "Golden Nuggets" from the session:
Start Early, Even with Small Amounts: You don’t need a six-figure salary to start investing. Compound interest is a young professional's best friend.
Credit is Confidence: Understanding your credit score is the first step to unlocking lower interest rates and better opportunities.
Real Estate is Reachable: Homeownership isn't a "far-off dream"—with the right planning and professional guidance, it’s a tangible goal for your 20s and 30s.
A huge thank you to the Eta Mu Chapter at ECU for their hospitality and to our incredible speakers for volunteering their time and expertise.
